Bottle lambs

It’s extremely difficult to get a picture of these guys since they think they’re going to be fed every time they see me.

But I wanted to share a picture of them.

When I picked them up yesterday, I noticed the tag in the ear of one and it says 47.

I smiled and knew not only would he be called 47 from now on, but that the other lamb would be 49.

When Jase asked me what I was going to name them I said, “He’s 47 and he’s 49,” pointing out each in turn.

Jase let out a chuckle and replied, “Good one, Mom!”

Handsome turned with a puzzled expression.

Jase saw his expression and quoted, “‘Mine’s 49 and he’s 47.'”

My husband’s expression deepened, so Jase continued to quote.

“‘Those are numbers.'”

Frowning now instead of puzzled, my husband shook his head.

“‘You’re right!'” Jase quoted, but my husband cut him off.

“What does that mean. Of course those are numbers?!”

I laughed, “Honey, he’s quoting from Return to New Haven, you know the Little Crew’s 3rd movie.”

He smirked and shook his head again.

Not only does our family enjoy quoting from movies and trying to guess which movie it came from, Jase and I have some special movies that we watch together.

All three of the Little Crew movies are on that special list.

Thus, Jase and I understood immediately why I kept the tag number and will use it as his name and named the other lamb accordingly.

Every time I deal with these lambs, the background to their names will be there.

I wonder what God thinks of when my name is spoken.

I pray it is a testimony to His redemption.

He has brought me through so much, worked throughout my life to sanctify me by cleansing me from wrong perspectives, poor behaviors, and sinful pursuits.

Just like these lambs, I still have a lot of growing to do, but I’m so blessed to belong to the Good Shepherd!

Hebrews 10:10 KJV — By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

2 Timothy 2:21 KJV — If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.

Dear Lord Jesus,

Thank You for Your Word! Thank You for what You have done in my life. Thank You for what You are doing in my life daily. Lord, thank You for these lambs, please help me to be a good Shepherdess and tend to them well. Lord, I want to be a good steward of all You place in my care. Lord, please help me to grow in You continually, that my name might bring You glory. Lord, I want You to be blessed when speaking my name. Lord, I want to be a good servant and faithful follower. I cannot do it on my own, I need You in every part of my life. Please lead me in the paths of righteousness for Your name’s sake and remind me not to fear, no matter how death might shadow over me, for I know You are with me. Thank You! I praise Your holy name, Jesus. Yours is the greatest, sweetest name that was ever spoken. I love You. Amen.

‭Philippians 2:9-11 NKJV‬
[9] Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, [10] that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, [11] and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Name

We identify things by their names.

In the scientific arena, things are given a set of names which are part of a classification system.

We also label our name upon a myriad of items to identify them as belonging to us.

Nothing is wrong with these things.

Naming and classifying are all important ways of organization and communication.

It actually began with God.

Genesis 1:5 NKJV — God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day.

Genesis 1:8 NKJV — And God called the firmament Heaven. So the evening and the morning were the second day.

Genesis 1:10 NKJV — And God called the dry land Earth, and the gathering together of the waters He called Seas. And God saw that it was good.

The Bible also shows how God gave Adam the privilege of naming the animals.

Genesis 2:19 NKJV — Out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them. And whatever Adam called each living creature, that was its name.

Part of the communication and organization of names is to show back ground and belonging.

Genesis 1:27 NKJV — So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

What an incredible background!

To be created in the image of God is truly an amazing part of our heritage.

For those who choose to follow Jesus Christ and accept His salvation we add to our background.

Galatians 3:26 KJV — For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

John 20:31 KJV — But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

Is there a greater gift than to be called a child of God through the redemption of Christ Jesus?

1 John 3:1 KJV — Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.

Let us remember the most precious name of our Savior and cling to the truth that we too have hope eternal.

Acts 4:12 KJV — Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Dear Lord Jesus,

Thank You for Your name! Thank You for the salvation we have through Your name. Thank You for Your Word which clearly testifies the truth. Lord Jesus, please help me to rest in Your salvation and trust You for all things. Lord, please help me to wait patiently for You as we walk through the day. Lord, thank You for this reminder. Thank You for Your love, Your grace, Your mercy, and Your truth. Thank You for being so full of compassion and long-suffering. For You, oh Lord are the One who created us. You are the One who saved us. You are the One who is worthy of all honor, glory, and praise! Amen.

Moving Sale

Job 1:21 KJV — And said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.

These words speak so deeply of a truth I have a hard time learning.

But I love them.

And I am learning.

Today, we are having a moving sale.

It will be open tomorrow as well and I’m praying for understanding that nothing belongs to me.

No things.

No people.

Not even myself.

Because my tendency is to hold on to stuff.

After as many moves as I’ve had throughout my adult life, I was expecting to find it easy by now.

But it still is a lesson I’m having to put into practice.

Because our new home is much smaller than this one, a lot of things have to go.

But I know it’s for the best.

I trust God with all.

As I stopped for a break in the middle of our preparations, I was struck by the phrase:

“…blessed be the name of the LORD.”

Because that’s what everything comes down to.

God is worthy of all glory, all honor, all praise.

His name is blessed!

Psalm 113:2 KJV — Blessed be the name of the LORD from this time forth and for evermore.

Dear Lord Jesus,

Thank You for Your Word. Thank You for Your character, which is holy, just, and righteous. Thank You for being worthy of all praise, honor, and glory. Truly, Your name is the greatest treasure. Your salvation the only thing worth clinging to. Thank You for the reminder. I love You, Jesus! Blessed be Your name!! Amen.
