Building material

1 Corinthians 3:11-12 NKJV — For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw,…

For the follower of Christ Jesus, our foundation is laid in His salvation.

The beginning of each life in Christ is this beautiful gift of mercy and grace.

From there the follower has a choice.

How will they live each day?

What building materials shall they choose for themselves, because their lives are the structure which stands upon the foundation of Christ.

What kind of monument will be built?

Is it costly, chiseled stone, set painstakingly one upon another?

Or is it quick and cheap, a mere temporary thing, awaiting a future date when those items will be replaced with more lasting materials?

Possibly it’s something in-between…

1 Corinthians 3:13 NKJV — each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is.

No one knows their day, when their life here will give way to eternity with Jesus, but when it comes, the structural value of their time on this Earth will be obvious.

1 Corinthians 3:14 NKJV — If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward.

1 Corinthians 3:15 NKJV — If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.

It’s not about salvation, for that foundation is secure.

Instead it’s about a testament, a witness, a life which points others to Jesus.

1 Corinthians 3:16 NKJV — Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?

It’s about God’s chosen message of salvation being lived out daily.

It’s about lives built upon the Scriptures and the leading of the Holy Spirit.

It’s about living for someone far more valuable than ourselves: Jesus Christ.

Dear Lord Jesus,

Thank You so much for Your Word. Thank You for giving us all we need to build monuments to You each day. Lord, please continue to help me learn through Your Word how to live daily for You. Lord, please continue to show me when I make a mistake, when I sin, that I might repent and return. Lord, I do not want to be careless or hurried about the life I live and build for You. Please help me to be purposeful and wise, building with valuable materials such as love, grace, peace, hope, and faith. Lord, I want my life to bring You glory and to be a testament to Your goodness. Please let others be encouraged, edified, and touched with Your Gospel each day. Thank You, Jesus. Amen.

Maker of them all

The rich and the poor have this in common, The Lord is the maker of them all.
Proverbs 22:2 NKJV

One short sentence.

Yet, the truth it holds is life changing.

No matter our place in this World each of us were made.

Which means you have a Maker. I have a Maker.

No matter how one feels about another human, the truth is they were made.

Uniquely individual, every single person was crafted by God.

Do we see every other person as valuable as ourselves? We should.

Since each of us is created by God, we hold equal value to Him.

One class or group of people were never meant to abuse another.

No one should use another.

Instead, our lives should be to serve God and one another.

Just imagine our World without sin.

A place where each one uses their gifts and talents to worship God and help their fellow man.

Strife, contentions, and abuse non-existent.

Sounds like a paradise.

It’s what God created originally in the Garden. Unfortunately, sin entered. The affects have marred and stained.

Praise God, He made a way!

Through Jesus, we have hope.

To be free from sin and death.

While waiting for the return of Jesus, let each one live with the truth of this verse.

Everyone has a Maker, and each person is valuable in His eyes.

Dear Jesus,

Thank You for showing me the truth. You love and value everyone, please help me to do the same. Sometimes I forget how to think of others first, sometimes I’m just plain sinful. I’m sorry. Please erase the messes I’ve made and restore those I’ve hurt. Thank You for Your beautiful plan for every life. Please help me to fulfill Your plan for mine today.
