Isaiah 14:3 KJV — And it shall come to pass in the day that the LORD shall give thee rest from thy sorrow, and from thy fear, and from the hard bondage wherein thou wast made to serve,
Dear Lord Jesus,
Thank You for Your Word. Lord, I love this promise You gave to Your people, the people of Judah. Thank You for the promises You give to Your people today. Thank You that we have hope of eternity with You through Your sacrifice. We have security in today through Your promises. Your Holy Spirit comforts us as we walk in this world and admonishes us that we might avoid sin. Lord Jesus, for the hurting and the sick, I humbly request Your healing touch, whether here or in heaven. Lord, for the innocent, the abused, the destitute, the captive, and the lost, please meet each one where they are. Lord, let the truth be known. Let people see that You are holy and Your ways are righteous, good, and the only way to life. Lord Jesus, please restore integrity, honor, morality, and justice. Please raise up leaders who will defend the innocent, protect the helpless, speak the truth, and love others more than themselves. Lord, I lift up my husband and my sons, please teach them to be men of integrity and truth, honorable before You and others. Lord, I lift up my daughters and humbly request that You teach them to be women of virtue, hard working, generous, hospitable, and full of love. Lord, please help me to inspire them, to encourage them, to speak words of truth with love and compassion. Lord Jesus, please help us to live for You daily, bringing glory to Your name. Thank You, Jesus. Amen.
Psalm 28:7 KJV — The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.
Dear Lord Jesus,
Thank You for Your Word and the comfort within. Thank You for watching over me as I walk through these daily things. Lord, thank You for providing for me a way to be saved, supplying all my needs, and sustaining me through this life. Lord Jesus, I thank You for being my strength and my shield. Thank You for being the place I put my trust, the solid unmoving foundation that I can build my faith upon. Thank You for helping me each day. Lord Jesus, I lift up the hurting, the sick, the broken, and those who mourn. I lift up the orphan, the widow, the helpless, and the captive. Lord, I lift up those who are trapped in the cycle of abuse, those who have yet to know You, and those who have wandered from Your ways. Lord, for each of these I humbly request that You touch them right where they are. That Your truth and righteousness will shine through their circumstances, that they will see what they need and turn from those things which have ensnared them, clinging only to You and Your truth. Lord, let those who know You love each day serving You with all they are. Please let us each bring You glory, honor, and praise. Lord Jesus, You are worthy of all worship! Your name is great and greatly to be praised! Your acts are righteous, Your Word is truth! Your salvation is life eternal and Your love is true, perfect. Thank You, Jesus! Amen!
John 10:14 KJV — I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.
Dear Lord Jesus,
Thank You for being our Good Shepherd. Thank You for Your love, kindness, compassion, understanding, protection, instruction, and guidance. Lord, please keep me from going my own way. I understand why the Psalmist said Your rod and staff are a comfort, for it is through Your instruction, Your correction, and Your Word I find truth, live, and security. Lord Jesus, for those who have yet to know You, please continue to call them, open their eyes to see Your truth, unstop their ears to Your voice, soften their hearts, and lead them to Your paths. Lord, for those who are called by Your name, please help us to be quick to obey, aware of the snares of evil, gentle in our manners, not headstrong, nor hurtful to others, and please help us to live in such a way that others know we have been with You. Lord Jesus, I want my life to bring glory to Your name. Thank You for all Your wonderous works, but especially for salvation. Amen!
We’ve been finding evidence of a critter digging it’s way under neath the chicken run, nearly every morning.
After several failed attempts to deter it, my husband bought a live trap.
Because our son had actually seen a young skunk in the neighbor’s yard, not far from their chickens, my husband wrapped the trap in a tarp to keep from getting sprayed once the animal was caught.
Yesterday morning, when I came up to do the chickens, there was food sitting outside of the trap, but the trap had not been sprung.
I thought that was odd, the food had obviously been eaten on.
When my husband came out, I told him about the food.
He was surprised to see that something got the food out of the trap, but had not sprung it.
Last night, he reset the trap in such a way that the animal was sure to be caught.
So when I came out to do the chickens, I didn’t go near their pen, because the trap had been sprung.
Instead, I sent my husband a message and went about the other chores.
I prayed for him as he headed towards the trap.
Requesting that he would not be sprayed, as he had to go to work this morning.
My husband was able to load the live trap and animal into the back of his pickup without incident.
He would take it and release it far away in the woods before heading to work.
When I do chores, I normally let our lamb out of her pen as she wanders about grazing while I take care of the other animals.
This morning was no different, she had followed me to the facet as I filled up the rabbit waterer.
My husband needed to leave immediately to have time to release the skunk.
The lamb and I were nearby as he jumped in the truck with his lunch box.
I realized that my lamb was awfully close to the truck and although she’s normally very frightened of vehicles, I wanted to get her out of the way, it would be very hard for my husband to see her.
I was encumbered by the rabbit waterer and only had one free hand, but assumed the minute he started the truck she would want to come toward me.
I forgot I was dealing with a sheep.
Although, I had put my hand out and called several times, she literally ran towards the back of the truck, under the bed, near the tire.
He was aware that she had been in the area and had seen my efforts, so he did not put it in reverse.
Instead, he got to watch as I tried desperately to get my lamb to come away from the truck.
She did not want to, despite the fact that it was running.
I tried leading her as I normally do, with one hand under her chin, but she fought me and kept trying to turn back towards the truck.
Are exhaust fumes that appealing?!
I knew that he was in a hurry, so I stopped trying to guide her and grabbed a front four leg.
By pulling on her four leg gently, I began to get her away from the truck.
She found this extremely frustrating and began leaping in the air in an attempt to break my hold.
She’s not heavy enough, even with her leaping over and over to break my grip.
I was able to get her away from the truck, to a safe distance, so my husband could drive away.
After getting her there, I didn’t let go, I couldn’t trust her.
She might turn and run back toward the truck, thus I stood, holding on to her leg waiting for my husband to back up and then head down the driveway.
I was very frustrated with her and I could tell she was not impressed with me either.
He did back up the truck, but then he stopped and stuck his head out the window.
About this juncture, I told my lamb that I was simply trying to keep her safe despite her dumb behavior.
Yes, I called my sheep dumb.
My husband called back to me, “You just made my day!”
Putting the truck in drive, he headed out, still laughing.
I had to laugh too.
I let go of my sheep, patted her, and tried to console her from what she thought was extremely poor treatment.
I returned to the chores and thanked the Lord for His blessings this morning, especially catching the skunk and protecting our chickens.
I pictured how funny my lamb and I must have looked as I dragged her away from her impending danger and suddenly realized God is incredibly patient.
How many times have I reacted the exact same way to something that the Lord said?
Then He changed the circumstances, making it far harder for me to return, all the while I act foolishly, and being greatly offended that He would treat me in such a way.
And all He was doing was keeping me from danger.
I praise God for His Sovereignty and the chastisement He has given when I needed it the most.
I am so thankful to the Lord for His faithful care and tireless instruction.
Isaiah 53:6 KJV — All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all.
I worship Almighty God for His incredible sacrifice, for nothing compares to His salvation through Jesus Christ.
Dear Lord Jesus,
Thank You for Your Word. Thank You for the “adventure” this morning, both with our lamb and with the skunk. Lord, I know You created all and I thank You for reminding me of Your Word this morning as I reflected upon the behavior of our sheep. Thank You for Your incredible amount of patience, Your mercy, and Your grace. Thank You that You died to save us. Please help each of us to be focused upon You and Your Word, that we would follow You with willingness, rather than be curious and seek to draw closer to the dangers You call us away from. Lord, thank You for all Your love! You are amazing! Amen.
By the way,
My lamb forgave me and came over to nuzzle my knee.
To You, O my Strength, I will sing praises; For God is my defense, My God of mercy. Psalms 59:17 NKJV
Dear Lord Jesus,
Thank You for being my strength and the reason I can sing praises every day! Thank You for Your mercy. Thank You that You paid for my sin. Thank You that through Your sacrifice, I am cleansed. Lord, thank You for defending me from evil and the attacks of the enemy. Lord, thank You that Your Word provides me with direction, insight, that I might not fall into sin. Lord, thank You for teaching me and honing my heart daily, causing me to become more like You. Lord, as I prepare for this day, I choose to trust You with each step. Please provide every part of all and lead me in the paths of righteousness for Your name’s sake. Lord, correct me quickly, that I might not sin against You and bring reproach to Your name. Lord Jesus, thank You for Your provision and blessings. Thank You for life and the opportunity to live today for You. I love You, Jesus. Amen.
In return for my love they are my accusers, But I give myself to prayer. Psalms 109:4 NKJV
This one verse struck my heart so deeply.
This was true of Jesus.
He healed them.
Matthew 8:16 KJV — When the evening was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick:
He taught them.
Mark 6:34 KJV — And Jesus, when he came out, saw much people, and was moved with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd: and he began to teach them many things.
He revealed Himself as their awaited Messiah.
And as He went, many spread their clothes on the road. Then, as He was now drawing near the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works they had seen, saying: “ ‘Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord!’ Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!” Luke 19:36-38 NKJV
They betrayed Him.
Matthew 27:22 NKJV — Pilate said to them, “What then shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ?” They all said to him, “Let Him be crucified!”
He prayed for them.
Luke 23:34 KJV — Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.
He used their betrayal and sacrificed Himself to bring about the salvation of all.
One verse in Psalms captured the incredible heart of our dear Lord and Savior.
May we praise God for His mercy and unfailing love, as we reflect upon His sacrifice.
May we also respond as He did when faced with the same circumstances of being accused by those we have loved.
2 Chronicles 7:14 KJV — If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
Dear Lord Jesus,
Thank You for Your Word. Thank You for Your mercy and grace. Thank You for truth and Your call to repentance. Lord Jesus, I confess before You the sins of my generation and those of my ancestors. Lord, the condition of our nation; the crime, the violence, the abuse, even slavery has been a reflection of the condition of the hearts of our people. Lord Jesus, our nation is divided more and more and truth has been replaced with lies in many areas. Lord, we know that You are using the consequences of our sins to reveal the condition of our hearts. Lord Jesus, we need You! Every single day, in every part of our lives. We need Your truth in our laws, Your love in our hearts, Your integrity in the work place, Your Word in our culture, and most of all, we need Your salvation to save us from eternal separation from You. Lord Jesus, thank You that You always preserve a remnant who will not bend the knee before idols, who will not curse Your name, who will not neglect their children, who will not look on evil, nor will they ignore the plundering of the poor, the innocent, and the helpless, they will not fail to serve You with their whole heart. Thank You that there are those who are standing in prayer for this nation and the world, seeking Your face for those who have yet to know You. Lord Jesus, thank You for Your faithfulness, goodness, mercy, grace, patience, and love. Thank You for Your salvation. Thank You for Your Word. Thank You for this nation of my birth. I love You, Jesus. Amen.
Give us help from trouble, For the help of man is useless. Through God we will do valiantly, For it is He who shall tread down our enemies. Psalms 108:12-13 NKJV
Dear Lord Jesus,
Thank You for Your Word. Thank You for Your faithfulness, Your mercy, Your grace, and Your goodness. Lord Jesus, I thank You for Your provision. You carried me through yesterday and I am so thankful for Your guidance. Lord Jesus, please continue to teach me from Your Word. As the Psalmist said, help us from trouble, for You alone are our refuge and strength. Lord, thank You that You defeated sin and death on the cross. Thank You that through Your salvation I have nothing to fear. You have trampled down doubt and worry through Your faithfulness and I am so thankful to be able to trust in You for all things. Lord Jesus, I love You. I thank You for Your love. I praise Your holy name, for You are magnificent, there is none like You. Lord, You are God and through You all creation came to be. Thank You for creating me. May my life bring glory to Your name. Amen.
I woke up late, probably due to my asthma giving me trouble.
I’d neglected to open the house last night, to allow the cool evening air to circulate and cool down the house.
As I moved around trying to get the lamb’s bottle, make my husband’s coffee, and open the house, I found myself struggling.
(I have so much compassion for elderly people!)
Yet, as I did the required things, the Lord spoke to my heart.
“Lord, thank You for this beautiful day. Thank You for my husband, please be with him at work and help him in all he does.”
After feeding my lamb, I went to open the chicken coop.
The outside door had been difficult for me to open, so last weekend, my husband fixed it.
As I hooked it open I praised God for His blessings, specifically my husband and an easier chicken door.
My sluggishness began to return as I headed to water the garden.
Our hose is newer and often causes me trouble, this morning was no different.
I began to grumble in my heart and the Lord spoke again.
“Yes, Lord. Please forgive me.”
“Lord, thank You for this hose, as difficult as it is, I am so glad I’m not carrying buckets of water.”
“Lord, thank You for Your provision, how You are making our garden grow. Thank You that even with the loss of so many plants, You have given us much. Lord, I lift up my day and thank You for Your blessings. You know what is in store, please help me to hear Your voice and trust in You completely, waiting upon You for direction.”
I setup the sprinkler, watering the corn, and heard my husband.
He was headed to work, but came out to kiss me goodbye.
We briefly talked and he left an image of his warm smile on my heart.
“Lord, thank You for my husband. I’m so blessed.”
By the time I returned to the house, my attitude had lifted greatly, the physical restrictions were no longer able to rob me of joy.
After all, God is good, His mercy endures forever, what, in this life, compares?
If I suffer, it is a reminder to pray, praise, and be thankful.
Psalm 30:12 KJV — To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.
Dear Lord Jesus,
Thank You for Your patience with me, such a slow learner. Thank You for Your mercy and grace which never fail! Lord, thank You for reminding me to be thankful. It has been such a joy to turn all things back to an opportunity to praise You. For You are worthy of all honor and glory. Lord, thank You for supplying my needs, especially this week. You know I was not looking forward to our schedule, yet You have stepped in and carried us through. Lord Jesus, You know what is required for today and I rest in Your provision, trusting Your Sovereignty. Lord, please continue to remind me to be thankful, especially when I stray into self-pity. Guard my heart against the temptations of self focus and continue to teach me how to see as You do. Lord Jesus, I praise Your holy name! Amen.
Isaiah 61:11 NLT — The Sovereign LORD will show his justice to the nations of the world. Everyone will praise him! His righteousness will be like a garden in early spring, with plants springing up everywhere.
Dear Lord Jesus,
Thank You so much for Your righteousness! Thank You for Your Word which teaches, guides, exhorts. Lord, thank You that You show us what is truth, what righteousness really is. Thank You that Your time on Earth is our example of how to live, how to serve You, and how to love others. Thank You that You alone are the perfect One who not only showed us ourselves clearly, revealed our sinful state, but You paid the price. Lord, I’m confessing my struggles with temptation and humbly requesting Your strength to remain diligent in all things. Lord Jesus, I’m trusting You to show me what Your desire for my day is. I want to be honorable before You, no matter the cost. Please keep my feet upon Your paths, guard my heart against stumbling onto the paths of selfish ambition, fearing man, the ways of the flesh, or anything else which would lead me astray. Lord, may my lips speak truth, my heart be filled with gratitude for Your salvation, and my mind ruminating upon Your Word. I want to be seed which produces a crop. I want Your righteousness and praise to spring up in my life daily. I love You, Jesus. Amen.
