Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, And let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth: Lest the LORD see it, and it displease him, And he turn away his wrath from him.
Proverbs 24:17‭-‬18 KJV

Dear Lord Jesus,

Thank You for Your Word. Lord, please help me to remember not to be glad, even when the wicked receives their just punishment. For all mankind was created by You, every person is created in Your image, thus I shouldn’t be happy when people choose evil and the consequences of that choice. Lord, rather, help me to be understanding when I see wickedness increase, recalling Your Word and what is ultimately awaiting those who refuse Your salvation. Lord, help me to hate sin, but never to grow callous to those who fall into it and the destruction they are bringing upon themselves. Lord, please let those who are abusing others for their own gain feel the consequences of their wicked and turn away from such things. Please help those of us who know You to live in such a way as to stand firm in Your statues, but never stop sharing Your name and the gift of salvation. Lord, help me to know how to speak the truth with love. Thank You. Amen.

To know wisdom and instruction, To perceive the words of understanding, To receive the instruction of wisdom, Justice, judgment, and equity; To give prudence to the simple, To the young man knowledge and discretion— A wise man will hear and increase learning, And a man of understanding will attain wise counsel, To understand a proverb and an enigma, The words of the wise and their riddles. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Ecclesiastes 3:2 KJV — A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;

Dear Lord Jesus,

Thank You for Your Word. Thank You for the many seasons of life. Thank You that we can see the truth of Your Word in nature. Lord, please help me to be kind, loving, patient, and understanding of the times and seasons, trusting You for all. Lord, help me to be thankful for today and not striving for tomorrow. Lord, please carry my burdens from yesterday, I am not created to shoulder them, but I know You are more than able to cover my past sins with Your cleansing blood. Lord, please give my family peace, direction, and insight into their day. Let them be wise, discerning, and trusting You completely. Lord, please do not let us be snared by the lies of the enemy, nor fall prey to the lists of the flesh. Please help us to make good choices based upon Your Word and the leading of Your Holy Spirit. Please teach us how to respond as well as guarding our lips that we might not sin against You. Thank You, Jesus. I humble myself before You and request these things in Your holy name. Amen.

Psalm 81:10-14KJV — I am the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it. 11 But my people would not hearken to my voice; and Israel would none of me. 12 So I gave them up unto their own hearts’ lust: and they walked in their own counsels. 13 Oh that my people had hearkened unto me, and Israel had walked in my ways! 14 I should soon have subdued their enemies, and turned my hand against their adversaries.

Dear Lord Jesus,

Thank You for Your Word. Thank You for Your faithfulness. Lord, I see myself in these lines. I have often chosen my own way rather than submit myself to Your Word and Your will. I have felt the consequences of walking in my own counsel. Lord, thank You for using those things to teach me to choose You. Thank You for Your forgiveness and acceptance of my repentance. Thank You for teaching me how to guard against my flesh as well as the enemy’s lies, that I might not fall into sin, not chose it. Lord, please continue to teach me Your Word and Your ways that I might not sin against You or anyone else. Lord Jesus, for those who are unaware of their state, please bring them clarity through Your Word and shine Your truth into their hearts that they might see themselves as You do and mend their ways. Lord, for those who have yet to know You, thank You for continuing to wait patiently for them, for continuing to put many proofs of Your love and Your righteousness before them. May their eyes be opened, their ears be opened, and their heart softened that they might see the truth and believe. Thank You, Jesus for Your gift of salvation. May Your name be glorified through our the whole earth. I love You, Jesus. Thank You so much for the power being returned! Amen.

John 4:23 KJV — But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

Dear Lord Jesus,

Thank You for Your Word. Thank You for instructing us in Your ways. Please help us to worship You daily in spirit and in truth. Thank You for guiding us through Your Word and Your Holy Spirit. Lord, show me any area where I am trying to worship You in my own understanding, rather than worshipping You as You instruct me to through Your Word. Lord, I know You are holy and righteous. I know I am neither of those things and can only become righteous through Your sacrifice. Lord, thank You for clothing me in Your salvation. Please help me to understand what You are calling me to do today. Please help me be quick to listen and slow to speak. Please correct me quickly when I stray. Lord, thank You for Your love. Thank You for Your forgiveness. Thank You for Your patience. May my life bring glory to Your name. I love You, Jesus. Amen.

And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
Matthew 24:14 KJV

Dear Lord Jesus,

Thank You for this promise. Thank You for this holiday where we pause an celebrate the gift of Your birth, Your life, and Your salvation. Thank You that You didn’t just come as a baby, but You grew and taught us about Your Father. You taught us about ourselves. You gave us Truth and You sacrificed Yourself for us. Then, You rose again because You are not held by death nor does the grave have power over You. All these things You did and we are so blessed to be able to celebrate Your life. Thank You! Your ways are incredible! Your truth is life. Your love is perfect. Lord, please help each of us to honor You in our actions, our attitudes, and our words. In Your name, I pray. Amen.

Isaiah 9:6 KJV — For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Dear Lord Jesus,

Thank You for this promise so many years before Your birth. Thank You for fulfilling so many prophecies when You came to earth as a baby born of a virgin. Lord, You are the greatest gift anyone could ever have. You are our Savior, our Refuge, our King, and our Lord. You are preparing a place in Heaven for Your people and it is an exciting promise to think about. Lord, Your truth is life. Your Word is true. Your promises are sure. You are good and we are blessed by You daily. As we prepare our hearts to celebrate Your birth, please help us to be humble. Help us to focus upon You and why we take December 25 off from our normal routine. Please help us keep our hearts centered upon You and Your Word that we might not lose sight of why we do what we do. May our motivation be pure and righteous in Your sight. May our hearts bring You glory and praise. I love You, Jesus. Thank You for Your gift of salvation. I know I can never fully understand what it cost You. In Your name I pray, Jesus. Amen.

Proverbs 31:30 KJV

Dear Lord Jesus,

Thank You for our family. Thank You for the gift of children. Lord, today, I’d like to lift up our daughters and granddaughters. Lord, please hone their hearts. Lord, please teach them to take every thought captive and to surrender themselves wholely to You. Lord Jesus, please help them to be wise, discerning, soft spoken, but filled with Your truth. Lord, please keep them from fear, envy, selfishness, slothfulness, and guard them from the lies of the enemy, for Eve was deceived.
