Isaiah 61:1 NKJV — “The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, Because the LORD has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;”
What hope these verses hold!
To hear of the poor being brought good tidings, the brokenhearted healed, liberty given to the captives, and opening of prison for those shackled, one of these is amazing, but all of them is incredible.
And it’s true.
Luke 4:18 KJV — The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
Luke 4:19 KJV — To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
The prophet Isaiah was speaking about Jesus.
Jesus, Himself, declared this and instead of rejoicing for the “acceptable year of the Lord” most were offended or simply ignored the spiritual meaning, clinging only to their temporary needs and desires.
Thankfully, God’s Word doesn’t rely on the acceptance of those who hear it.
It is truth, whether people believe it or not.
Praise God!
For these words and the hope they give are available today as much as when Jesus spoke them.
His death and Resurrection are what breaks the bonds of sin and death.
His death and Resurrection are what heals the broken-hearted.
His death and Resurrection are the good tidings.
Salvation for our souls is the best news we can ever have or ever share.
Psalm 3:8 KJV — Salvation belongeth unto the LORD: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.
Praise God!
Dear Lord Jesus,
Thank You for Your Word. Thank You for Your salvation. Lord, I am so thankful for the truth of Your Word. Thank You that we can find the solution to all that is wrong with the human race in You. Through You we find our value. Through Your Word we find instruction for living. Through Your gift we find hope of eternity in heaven. Through Your Holy Spirit we have a Comforter for this present day. Through Your Word we find confident expectation that some day, You will return and set all things right. Thank You! I praise Your holy name, Jesus. Amen.
“The truth is truth whether people believe it or not.” I find it so disheartening how people don’t even search for the truth these days. Many places where it used to be found – from news outlets to pulpits – have resorted to ear tickling and agenda promoting because that is what’s popular. But even if nobody is sharing it, the truth is still the truth, and we are still accountable to it. Thank you for always spreading Truth, my friend! I appreciate you.
Thank you for your encouraging comment and your time. 💗 It blesses my heart. I too am often saddened by the way truth is being lost, overlooked, or left, but I find so much joy in knowing some day, Jesus will return. God bless and keep you my friend. 💗
