Gifts of love

Something truly enjoyable to watch is the little ways people speak love.

With our granddaughter, it’s a tight hug or arms stretched out, lips calling the name of the person she wants to hold her.

Recently, it was our son cutting the crust off a piece of toast he made for his sister.

My husband seeing a need and purchasing an item to bless another.

Or at another moment it was Faye gently caressing her brother’s head while softly saying in her two-year-old speech, “Ahhh, Bubba!”.

This weekend it was a vase of roses and flowers from the garden placed in my room by our youngest daughter.

The gifts of love are so much more than material things.

They are lasting, cherished moments, where one person gives of themselves.

The true gifts of love are pure, never doing to be repaid, never looking for advantage to self.

They are things done in the pattern of Christ.

1 John 4:7 NKJV — Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.

Dear Lord Jesus,

Thank You so much for Your love. Thank You for being our perfect sacrifice and for rising from the dead to give us hope of heaven, all because God loves the world so much He sent You to save it! Lord, please continue to teach us how to love as You do, how to walk in Your Word daily. Lord, thank You for Your faithfulness, mercy, and grace. It is in You we learn what true love is. Thank You! Amen.
