“What a friend…”

“What a friend we have in Jesus,
all our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
all because we do not carry
everything to God in prayer.” (Copied from: The United Methodist Hymnal Number 526 Text: Joseph M. Scriven, 1820-1886
Music: Charles C. Converse, 1832-1918)

Truly, what a friend we have in Jesus!

He’s love is neverending.

He’s Word is truth.

He gave His life that we might be saved.

 “Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged;
take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness;
take it to the Lord in prayer.”

The Lord Jesus loves each and everyone of us.

He wants to use our circumstances to teach us about Himself, to teach us about His love and priorities.

He wants us to grow daily in trust, in His Word, in a personal relationship with Him.

“Are we weak and heavy laden,
cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge;
take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In his arms he’ll take and shield thee;
thou wilt find a solace there.”

There is nothing which compares to the love of Christ Jesus.

His peace is indescribable.

Philippians 4:7 NKJV — and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Proverbs 18:24 NKJV — A man who has friends must himself be friendly, But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.

Dear Lord Jesus,

Thank You for being my friend! Thank You for loving me so completely. Thank You for giving me peace which surpasses understanding. Thank You for walking with me daily. Lord Jesus, thank You for being my refuge and strength. Thank You for making a way when there seemed to be none. Lord, thank You for Your love and care throughout history. How great and awesome are You, God! May all the nations praise Your holy name! Amen.
