Spiritual maintenance

These weathered ruins reminds one of what rain and wind will do left to itself.

It takes continual effort to maintain any structure when the forces of nature are combatting it daily.

The same is true for our spiritual lives.

Our flesh which never grows weary, is like the drip, drip, drip of water.

It nags, pouts, and sulks whenever the opportunity arises.

It’s always looking for more; more stuff, more time, more attention, more…

To add to this the enemy is also assailing our minds with lies twisted to look like truth.

Tantalizing bait to our already sinful flesh.

Just as it takes more than a plumber to keep a house in good repair, it takes more than just listening to a sermon once a week to keep the spirit in God’s will.

But no matter of effort or energy will preserve the soul if it hasn’t been submitted to Jesus first.

Psalm 127:1 NKJV — A Song of Ascents. Of Solomon. Unless the LORD builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the LORD guards the city, The watchman stays awake in vain.

So it is with our souls.

God created each and everyone of us

He gave us the gift of choice.

Do we live and submit to Him or shall we turn and waste our gifts on temporary pleasures?

When one chooses Christ, it’s a choice for life, a daily surrender, moment by moment submission, and a continuous effort.

Yet the rewards are astounding!

Unlike this ruined castle, those who hold fast to Jesus shall find an everlasting home.

It’s true the elements may be an issue here on Earth, but heaven is a different matter.

The true blessed Gospel is the promise of life eternal with Jesus.

Matthew 6:20 NKJV — “but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.

That’s worth ever effort.

But that’s not all.

Jesus promises to walk with us while we strive to live for Him.

He grants us daily miracles, His Word, fellow believers, and so much more.

With a complete understanding of the struggles and difficulties, Jesus provides for our every need.

He’s the author of it all and He loves to walk with us and to maintain our spiritual lives.

All He asks is that we allow Him to do so.
