The fruit of obedience

“Then Moses went up, also Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel, and they saw the God of Israel…” Exodus 24:9-10a NKJ

Much has occurred since Moses spoke with the Lord in front of the burning bush.

Moses has encountered the importance of personal obedience.
(Exodus 4:24-26)

Moses has seen the length at which God would go to free His people while proving to a hard hearted king the fact that He was the only God.
(Exodus 7-14)

Now Moses is seeing the fruit of his obedience.

He’s meeting God.
He’s seeing God.

But it doesn’t end there.

“Then the LORD said to Moses, ‘Come up to Me on the mountain and be there;  and I will give you tablets of stone, and the law and commandments which I have written,  that you may teach them.'” Exodus 24:12 NKJ

He’s moving closer to the Lord and with it the beginning of a new ministry.

Moses was the one God chose to teach the law and the commandments to, which he passed on to all the people.

Moses was the one God chose to write the first five books of the Bible, which has been preserved and reprinted and treasured for all people.

Moses would have had no ability to understand the magnitude of his obedience on all mankind.

Yet he obeyed.

And God used it

So how has obedience to Jesus played out for you?

Can you see His hand in the circumstances?

I’m sure there were times when Moses couldn’t see the blessings, because the trials and effects of others’ sin weighed heavily.

Yet, we never again see Moses in an argument of whether or not God could work through him, like the one in front of the burning bush.

That is my prayer today.

No matter the circumstances, or whether I can see the fruit of obedience, I want to stop arguing with the Lord about myself.

I want to be 100% willing each time I feel a call.

I want to be obedient so the fruit can come, whether I recognize it or not.
