That moment when you really aren’t awake and someone turns on the overhead light,
Glaring.
The time when you are driving in the pouring rain, windshield wipers full bore, and to your delight
the clouds break, the sun filters down, you find you’ve driven out of the storm,
Longed for.
When, as a child your, fears creep in and your mind is choked with thoughts and the comfort of a single small light glowing from the wall in the figure of Mickey Mouse gives path to sweet slumber,
Comfort.
That moment when the stains of the past grip your heart in a vice and refuse to release you from the pain–then– the truth shines in that someone has paid the price, the prison cell is open and freedom from sin stands before you in the simple yet profound choice of asking for it,
Savior.
How many different ways light can effect and the different affects–
What a wonderful picture that even the smallest child prefers to be in the light.
Our souls long for the things that darkness (sin and wickedness) strive to put out of the world:
Peace
Joy
Freedom
Love
Patience
Kindness
Friendship
Companionship
Purpose
Calling
Fulfillment
Understanding
Comfort
Healing
Encouragement
Security
There are all of these things in the Light:
John 8:12 “Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, ‘I am the light of the world, he who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.’”
If you are struggling in the darkness of despair, discouragement, worry, grief, loss, brokenness, illness, or any of the others remember that you do not have to stay there. Look to the light and find hope in the midst of the pit.
